Senior Service Support Engineer

Are you a senior support engineer or 2nd / 3rd line support engineer looking for an interesting and varied new role?

 

We are looking for a senior service support engineer for our service desk, based in our new head office at Escrick Business Park, providing support to our customers as well as supporting internal systems.

 

In this role, you’ll have exposure to a wide range of technologies across the Microsoft Azure space, modern workplace, automation, hybrid platforms and more.

 
What does the role involve?
 

Key responsibilities will involve following standard service desk practice and procedures to provide Tier 2/3 support across our service stack – knowledge of ITIL methodologies will help you here. You will also create knowledge base and procedural documents, and provide some mentoring support to less experienced team members.

 

You’ll need a problem-solving mindset to help you diagnose and troubleshoot desktop, IT infrastructure, and basic networking issues. You’ll also need to be confident in installing, testing and configuring new workstations, peripheral equipment and applications, using a range of build scenarios depending on the customer and device profile.

 
What skills and knowledge do you need?
 

Our Service Stack has three fundamental elements. You will need to be proficient in Windows 10, and at least one of Microsoft Endpoint Manager and Microsoft Intune

 

Your Windows 10 experience needs to cover deploying and updating Windows 10; managing policies and profiles such as AD Group policies, MDM policies and conditional access; device protection using Microsoft Windows Defender and device health monitoring.

 

In Configuration Manager, you’ll need to be confident in deploying and monitoring applications and software updates via a range of deployment methods; building, updating, deploying and troubleshooting OS images, including the use of task sequences; creating and using device management tools such as compliance baselines and collections, including complex queries; and a range of maintenance and support tasks, such as supporting site system roles, distribution points and groups, and more.

 

In Intune you’ll need to be able to deploy / assign applications; manage devices; administer conditional access, and manage software updates and mobile applications.

 

Beyond the fundamentals, you’ll need to have a strong grasp of two of the following:

PowerShell; General Scripting (Batch, VBS, C++); App-V, MSIX; Azure Automation; Azure Logic Apps / Power Automate; Azure IaaS; Hyper-V; and/or Power BI.
